Gatus
★ 7kUptime monitoring configured as code: YAML checks, conditions on status/latency/body, alerts to anywhere, auto status page.
Gatus does the job of Pingdom, self-hosted. It is Apache-2.0-licensed, so you can do essentially what you like with it, and it installs in about one command. Pingdom bills $10/mo for it. 7k stars on GitHub.

Is it actually a replacement?
We have written a verdict on what it replaces — what you lose, and why people still pay:
How Gatus runs
Where it runs
Gatus runs on your server.
Installing it
Run one binary or Docker container and supply a YAML configuration; Helm is available.
Where your data lives
Monitor definitions live in YAML; results are in memory by default or persist in SQLite or PostgreSQL when storage is configured.
What setup takes
The first hurdle is writing YAML for endpoints, conditions, alerts, and secrets; without configuring a database, history disappears on restart.
The catch compared with Pingdom
It is configuration-driven and normally probes from one place, so Pingdom's global probe network and recorder-style transaction checks are the major losses.
Gatus questions
Is Gatus open source?
Yes — it is released under Apache-2.0.
Can Gatus replace Pingdom?
Our verdict on Pingdom is YES. Uptime Kuma (87k stars), Grafana (65k stars), Gatus (12k stars) are mature open-source replacements for Pingdom — self-host with docker and stop paying $15/mo.
Can I self-host Gatus?
Yes — we rate it easy to self-host, and it runs on your server. Run one binary or Docker container and supply a YAML configuration; Helm is available.
